What a Presidential Gig

Category : LATEST HEADLINES

The Presidential Inauguration is a significant point in American history. Millions of people gathered in Washington D.C. to experience this monumental event. Can you imagine all the freelance and part-time jobs that are created just to put this event together? Since 1901, the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies has been responsible for planning and the execution of the swearing-in ceremonies and luncheon. Most of the work for the Inauguration begins more than a year in advance. That’s a lot of hours to bill!!! (not bad considering it is only part-time).

Here’s an interesting article to show you all some statistics of all the people behind putting together the Inauguration. http://www.8newsnow.com/story/20613503/by-the-numbers-obamas-second-term-inauguration . 550 number of staffers work on the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Even though this is a part-time gig, how exciting it must be to see the event put together from start to finish.

See you all at the next Inauguration!!

OPRAH! What A Woman

Category : LATEST HEADLINES

I was so upset to hear that Lance Armstrong had in fact used performance enhancing drugs, an accusation he had so vehemently denied over the last few years. Oprah’s Own Network will televise the two-and-a-half-hour unedited interview over two days starting Thursday. Undoubtedly, I think this is one of the greatest doping scandals to ever rock the world of cycling. Winfrey claims this is the biggest interview she has ever done, having 112 questions prepared, not all of them were asked (I wish I had her job). The most important ones were answered. Oprah states “I can only say I was satisfied by the answers”. Amazingly enough, she flew home to Chicago with dog food and the video tapes in her bag for fear that it might be pilfered if it were sent ahead via satellite to the editing room. Sounds like even Oprah, being the most successful woman in show business is not so trustworthy of her workers?? Kind of puts her on level playing field.. huh?? http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/oprah-winfrey-expands-lance-armstrong-412628

Will you be watching the interview? Let me know what you think.

It’s A New Dawn. It’s A New Day.

Not sure what to wear on the first day of your new job? It is better to overdress a little than underdress. There are many ways to dress professionally and look stylish at the same time. I have always tried looking at some of the employees when going on an interview. On the first day of work, check to see if your company has a dress code and make a lot of observations. Still not sure, black slacks and a collared button down shirt with a pair of high heals are always a safe choice. Don’t forge your appearance is a constant factor in how others perceive you and your professionalism. I found a great read that I have listed below. Enjoy!! http://www.classycareergirl.com/2011/08/what-should-i-wear-new-job-style-2/

I’d love to hear what you would wear on your first day!!!
